Biographical SketchAdri Albert de la Bruheze is Assistant Professor at the Centre for Studies of Science, Technology and Society of the University of Twente in the Netherlands. His PhD thesis was on the history of radioactive waste management technology in the USA (Political Construction of Technology. Nuclear Waste Disposal in the United States, 1945-1972). Since 1994 he is researcher, editorial secretary and member of the editorial board of the large (seven volume) national research program Technology in the Netherlands in the Twentieth Century. Since August 1998 he is project manager in a research project on the emergence of the consumer society in the Netherlands in the twentieth century funded by the Dutch National Science Foundation(NWO). Together with Onno de Wit, he is the chief editor of a forthcoming book with the provisional title: The negotiated emergence of the Dutch consumer society in the twentieth century. He is also involved with Johan Schot, Cornelis Disco and Martijn Wit in the history of technology research program 'Transnational infrastructures and the rise of contemporary Europe' at the University of Twente.
