Biographical Sketch

Gabrielle Hecht is Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Michigan. She holds a PhD in the History and Sociology of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, where she specialized in the history of technology. Her first book is titled The Radiance of France: Nuclear Power and National Identity after World War II (MIT Press 1998). Her most recent book is a collection of essays co-edited with Michael T. Allen, entitled Technologies of Power (MIT Press, 2001. Her new research is on uranium mining, colonialism, and postcoloniality.
