Since the 1980s, the picture editors of the Foundation for the History of Technology have assembled an extensive picture archive that consists of various collections of photographs and other visual resources on the history of technology. Most collections result from specific queries in the context of research projects. The majority of these are linked to the history of technology in the Netherlands in the 19th and 20th centuries. There are also well documented collections on public works and infrastructure (e.g., Schiphol Airport).
Third parties can consult the picture archive by appointment, simply by making a phone call or e-mail to the picture editor. We have originals or reproductions of most images. Photocopies of images may help you to orient your search for certain imagery. In case we are unable to be of direct assistance, we may be able to refer you to other archives and collections in the Netherlands.
If you have any questions, requests, or comments, please contact picture editor and archivist, Dr. Giel van Hooff, by e-mail at W.H.P.M.v.Hooff@tue.nl, or by phone +31 40 247 4056.
